Suet is a good supplementary food to attract woodpeckers, chickadees, nuthatches and many other insect eating birds.
Woodpeckers and Nuthatches are most comfortable and safest from predators when they are on the trunk of the tree. Placing your suet in a holder near or on a tree trunk will help protect and encourage the birds to stay at the feeder longer.
